Nhii's - La Bodega: Music, Community & Giving Back to the Dominican Republic
We are happy to announce the release of La Bodega, a collaboration between German producer Nhii and Dominican vocalist J Feliz, on WAYU Records.
Blending indie dance, acid-infused grooves, organic electronic textures, and the unmistakable energy of Caribbean culture, La Bodega is a record built for the dancefloor, but with a story that goes far beyond it.
Born in the Dominican Republic
The story of La Bodega began during BeatRetreat in the Dominican Republic, where J Feliz took part in a live recording session designed to give attendees a look inside the creative process.
With no lyrics prepared, J Feliz stepped up to the microphone and delivered a spontaneous freestyle filled with rhythm, personality, and Dominican spirit.
Those recordings later found their way to Nhii, who transformed the raw vocals into La Bodega, building hypnotic rhythms, rolling basslines, textured synths, and acid-infused grooves around J Feliz’s performance.
What began as a spontaneous moment eventually became something much bigger.
A Community Effort
This release is especially close to our hearts and very much a community effort.
Everyone involved in the project, from the artists and WAYU Records to our distributor Proton, has donated their share so that 100% of the net proceeds from the recording will go directly to InspireDR.
InspireDR works with underserved boys in the Dominican Republic, providing education, mentorship, and opportunities designed to inspire them to become responsible men, husbands, fathers, and leaders in their communities.
For us, La Bodega became an opportunity to use something we already love doing, releasing music, to help amplify the work of an organization making a tangible difference in the community where this record began.
